The Bateman Gallery is currently open, with COVID-19 safety procedures in place adhering to guidelines set out by the B.C. Ministry of Health, WorkSafeBC, the Government of Canada and the World Health Organization.

The Bateman Gallery illuminates the wonders of the natural world, shares environmental knowledge, and deepens human-nature connection. It is home to a permanent collection of Robert Bateman’s work and a rotation of temporary exhibits by other ecological artists that uphold his legacy.

As of 2021, admission to the gallery is by donation: patrons are encouraged to pay what they can, if they can. We are committed to establishing the Bateman Gallery as an accessible community resource.

An exhibit of original photographs showcases the work of Calgary native, father, hiker and artist Robert Lemermeyer and his explorations in the majestic Rocky Mountains. What began as a pastime, developed into a meditation practice as the act of hiking unveiled the healing and transforming power of nature.

Robert Bateman has spent his life immersed in the natural world. A renowned naturalist and artist, he imbues a deep knowledge into his works, bringing attention to the beauty and particularity of nature.
