NatureSketch Watercolour Painting in the Bateman Gallery: Colours of Winter Course AM
January 21 @ 11:30 am – February 25 @ 1:00 pm PST
Watercolours are unique because of their transparency, luminosity, and brightness. The paint pigments are diluted making the paint more transparent, the thin layers make beautifully bright colours. Nature presents in an incredible variety of colours, shapes, patterns, and lights, and is a great source of inspiration.
In this 6-week online watercolour painting course, taught by Vida Akef, we learn the fundamentals of watercolour painting and bring a vibrant array of colours, luminosity, and life to our paintings. We start by covering basics such as paint thickness, colour mixing, layering and glazing, and shape techniques. We move on to explore the brilliant colours and shapes of the natural world in this winter themed nature painting class. Using eco-literacy principles from world-renowned artist and naturalist, Robert Bateman, we encourage participants to connect to nature through art and observation.
