NatureSketch Online: Trees, Leaves, and Critters

September 10, 2022 @ 12:00 pm October 1, 2022 @ 1:30 pm PDT

This 4-week online course is taught by artist and children’s book illustrator Val Lawton, and artist and educator Carey-Lynn Link. You’ll learn art fundamentals such as line drawing, understanding shapes, and shading techniques, with a fresh and fun approach perfect for budding artists. Our talented educators will teach you the skills to sketch trees, the parts that make up a tree, and some of the wildlife that lives among trees.

By the end of this course, you will develop an understanding of value, texture, light, and shadow, and understand that everything is made of basic shapes, as well as some basics of nature journalling and new understandings of animals and plants. You will walk away from this course seeing the world through an artist’s eyes and feeling encouraged to go outside and create your own art in nature.
