Junior NatureSketch Online: Trees, Leaves, and Critters

September 10, 2022 @ 10:00 am October 1, 2022 @ 11:00 am PDT

This 4-week junior nature drawing course is taught by artist and children’s book illustrator Val Lawton and artist and educator Carey-Lynn Link. Your educators will guide you through art fundamentals such as line drawing, understanding shapes, and shading techniques, with a fun approach that will encourage budding artists from the comfort of your own home.

Start your journey with nature and art at a budding age. By the end of this course you will be able to sketch trees, the parts that make up a tree, and some of the wildlife that lives among trees! Draw what you see and observe, understand the basics of value, texture, light, and shadow, and understand that everything is made of basic shapes. You’ll also learn some basics of nature journalling and new understandings of animals and plants.
