“Probably the most bizarre painting by Robert Bateman, this present for young Christopher amazed all the kids at his party. It was the perfect accompaniment for the ET arm, hand and glowing finger that his Mom sculpted out of cake.”

“In 2001, Jocelyn and I moved to Salt Spring with the intention of having a baby. We moved into this 1930’s farm house that dad and Birgit had purchased in the late 80’s. Several family members have lodged here over the years. On June 20, 2022, we had baby Annie, named after Dad’s mother. She was born in the living room of this house. Dad did this sketch while spending time with artist David Barker. He did it with the intention of giving it to Jocelyn to celebrate the incredible memories shared here.”

“Dad and Birgit purchased the cottage on Hornby in the late 90’s. It has since become the place where the family gathers every summer and throughout the year. While in college, I spent a lot of time on Hornby. I am a woodworker by trade. Dad had me do some of the finishing touches on the cottage after its construction. This is a little painting of the outdoor fireplace. For this project he had me build and carve the mantle. He drew up the design. I love collaborating with him.”
