Castaways: Art From the Material World is an incredible feat of creativity: an exhibit made entirely from found materials and recycled textiles, crafted into unique installations by a group of female artists from Canada and the Americas.
It features a range of artworks in different styles, including two traditional Cowichan sweaters by Dora Wilson; a Greenland shark constructed from plastic bags by Jessica Cadkin; and a wedding dress made entirely from plastic, worn by artist Judith Selby Lang at her Burning Man wedding in 2004.
Don’t miss your chance to explore this tale of fast fashion, consumerism and the textile industry, told from uniquely female perspectives. The Castaways art exhibit must leave Victoria on Saturday September 26th!
The Gallery of Nature is open Tues-Sat, 11am-4pm, with physical distancing measures in place.
