Family Day Weekend at the Bateman Gallery
Victoria, BC – The Bateman Gallery will be welcoming families this weekend to a special slate of activities to mark Family Day with free admission and activities in the Bateman Gallery, 300-470 Belleville St, Victoria, BC. from 10 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
On Saturday and Sunday, February 18 and 19, families will be given free admission to the Bateman Gallery. The gallery event/activity days will feature art activities as well as a sketch and scavenger style hunting game.
Families are able to view the new exhibit, Environmental Impact II. This is the only scheduled Canadian stop for this travelling exhibit which has been moving through North America since 2019 as a follow up to the successful Environmental Impact I. The exhibit focuses on highlighting mankind’s environmental impact through the collection of artwork from leading contemporary artists, including icon Canadian artist and naturalist, Robert Bateman. Through the exhibit, the goal is to heighten public awareness and concern over the intentional or unintentional consequences of human actions on our planet.
The exhibit will run in the Bateman Gallery from February 4 to May 28.

Robert Bateman’s 1993 work Driftnet is part of the exhibition and returns to Victoria as part of the travelling exhibit.
